Andy Edwards I first heard JM 32 years go when I purchased a copy of 'Birds of Fire'. I can remember staring at the speakers in astonishment. Listening to this now I still think there is no other guitarist on the planet that can play like this.

Stuart J Thomas Despite being in his 70s, John Mclaughlin unceasingly redefines and pushes the boundaries of improvisational music. Black Light continues where Now Hear This left off, mixing synthesised sounds with Indian influenced rhythms and jazz improvisation. The quartet all demonstrate such fluency on their instruments that they make these complicated, intricate compositions, appear effortless. Long time Mclaughlin fans will also welcome hearing him on the acoustic guitar, for the first time in a while.

Mark Lawrence Another sublime album from these four virtuoso musicians... The music is intense and deep, featuring beautifully crafted soundscapes and melodies.

John Cratchley Nobody else plays like John McLaughlin...nobody else thinks through a composition or improvises like he does...nobody else has this level of technical prowess combined with such spiritual acuity...nobody else has this sheer drive and belief...who else could put together such a stellar band?
For me, he is the Master...always has been and always will be...his playing leaves me speechless and fills me with light...
